A British Airways flight from London to Chicago encountered a serious mid-air emergency, declaring an emergency over Ireland after rapidly descending from 37,000 feet to 9,000 feet. The Boeing 777, flight BA295, made a U-turn back to London and dumped approximately 30 tonnes of fuel to facilitate the safe landing at Heathrow. Eyewitness reports detail a dramatic drop of 28,000 feet in a short period, triggering the 7700 emergency squawk code as the crew responded to the situation. Passengers were left in shock as the aircraft diverted and returned safely after the incident.
