In a dramatic turn of events during recent devastating floods in Nepal, a quick-thinking teacher has been hailed a hero after saving the lives of 1,643 students. Despite the damaging impact of the floods that destroyed numerous schools across the region, the principal of a local school received a warning and promptly evacuated students, urging them to leave just moments before the floodwaters engulfed the building. The evacuation efforts, which happened during a lunch break, allowed many students to escape unharmed. Tragically, over 20 schools across three districts were affected by the floods, with greater concerns arising as the death toll exceeds 700, leaving thousands missing. As communities grapple with the aftermath, there are rising calls for support to rebuild the schools, including initiatives to construct them on higher ground.
