Severe Flooding Crisis Across the Northeast Following Intense Rainfall
Heavy rains have led to significant flooding across parts of the East Coast, particularly affecting Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. Connecticut experienced some of the worst conditions, with parts of the state receiving nearly 8 inches of rain on Sunday, triggering flash floods that overwhelmed roads and trapped motorists. Emergency crews conducted numerous rescues, including 13 in Westport alone. Train and bus services were disrupted, with Amtrak and Metro North restoring operations after flooding-related delays. Airports also faced significant disruptions, as Tweed New Haven Airport temporarily closed its departures terminal due to flooding. Residents are urged to stay home as flash flood warnings remain in effect.
