Recent incidents involving drones in Bulgaria have heightened security fears, particularly in relation to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. An unidentified drone, likely from Ukraine, exploded near a major gas pipeline close to the Bulgarian-Romanian border, prompting Ukrainian officials to deny any intentional targeting of Bulgaria. The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry has summoned the Ukrainian ambassador for clarification following the drone explosion in its airspace. Bulgarian officials reported that the drone, identified as a type used by the Ukrainian military, presented no damage despite its proximity to critical gas infrastructure. As investigations continue, this incident highlights the broader implications of the Ukraine war on regional stability and security.
