Fernando Mendoza, the highly-touted rookie quarterback for the Raiders, made a strong impression during his preseason debut against the Arizona Cardinals, throwing for 97 yards and leading a touchdown drive. Despite expressing disappointment with his performance and feeling he let his teammates down, he was praised by coaches and analysts alike, earning comparisons to legends like Tom Brady. Head coach Klint Kubiak noted that all three quarterbacks, including Mendoza, deserve first-team reps, indicating a competitive race for the starting position, currently held by Kirk Cousins. While Mendoza acknowledged the need for improvement, his performance has sparked excitement among fans and raised expectations for the season to come.
