In a recent campaign ad, GOP Representative María Elvira Salazar criticized former President Trump’s immigration policies, asserting that many Hispanic voters feel ‘betrayed’ by his administration. Salazar indicated that she spoke with Trump, who was reportedly ‘very receptive’ to her warnings about alienating this crucial demographic. Her statements have prompted various reactions within the Republican Party, with some lawmakers beginning to distance themselves from Trump as the midterm elections approach. Despite the criticism, Trump maintained his support for Salazar, pushing back against her claims and suggesting that she had softened her stance on immigration enforcement.
