After an extended and challenging 270-day deployment, the USS Abraham Lincoln is on its way back to the United States, specifically to San Diego, with expected stops in Thailand. The deployment, which took the carrier through the Middle East, has raised concerns over crew conditions and morale, leading to calls for investigations by various parties, including Democrats. Recent reports discussed critical issues such as food shortages and living conditions on board, prompting scrutiny from families of the crew and media. The USS Lincoln is being relieved by the USS George Washington, which arrived in the Middle East to take over the responsibilities while addressing concerns about naval readiness and resource strain. As the USS Abraham Lincoln concludes its mission, mental health experts continue to evaluate the challenges faced by those at sea for extended periods.
