A fast-growing Timber Fire in Big Sur has prompted extensive evacuation orders and the closure of Highway 1 as it expands rapidly, burning over 1,700 acres and remaining only 5% contained. The fire has led to the evacuation of popular locations such as Ventana, Nepenthe, and the Esalen Institute, forcing local businesses to close. Authorities urge residents and visitors to evacuate as conditions remain critical, with additional warnings issued as the fire continues to spread.
