NATO fighter jets have successfully shot down a drone that violated Lithuanian airspace, marking a significant escalation in regional security tensions. This incident occurred near the border with Belarus, prompting Lithuania to brief EU allies and raise alarm over potential threats. The drones have been linked to escalating military activity and heightened concerns following recent incursions. In a separate incident, a suspected drone alert over Vilnius turned out to be a flock of birds, leading to temporary disruptions at Vilnius Airport as NATO jets were scrambled. As tensions mount in the Baltics, NATO has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the security of its member states.
