Southern California is currently experiencing an intense heat wave, with extreme heat warnings issued across multiple counties including Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside. Record-breaking temperatures have been reported, with downtown Los Angeles reaching a staggering 102 degrees. The heatwave, fueled by powerful Santa Ana winds, is expected to last at least a week and peak midweek, with triple-digit temperatures impacting millions throughout the region. Power providers are urging residents to conserve energy, while cooling center hours have been extended in response to the scorching conditions. The ongoing heat poses dangers for both people and pets, raising concerns about increased wildfire risks amidst the oppressive temperatures.
