The USS Abraham Lincoln, a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, is set to dock in Pattaya, Thailand, following a grueling deployment of over 250 days in the Middle East. Local officials are preparing for the arrival of approximately 5,000 sailors, anticipating a boost to the local economy, while also expressing concerns over potential risks associated with heightened tourism, including the sex industry. Authorities in Pattaya are enforcing restrictions ahead of the visit, including bans on cannabis shops and specific areas known for adult entertainment. The sailors are expected to unwind and enjoy leisure activities in the region after their extended time at sea.
